Welcome to the Lexington Ski and Sports Club website. Join a group of individuals who love skiing and snowboarding. Our group provides a great way to socialize with others who share the same passion for winter sports. We welcome all people to come and join us for a meeting to experience the fun discussing the trips offered to resorts in the US and overseas, as well as activities offered right here in Lexington.
The September Newsletter has been posted. See the newsletter for important information on the 2021 trips!
The club meeting for September is canceled.
Normally at this time of year we’re preparing for our biggest membership meeting of the season: the August announcement of next winter’s ski trips and the beginning of sign-ups and trip deposits. Some years as many as 50 people have come to learn about new trips and to see old friends.
However, things are different in the summer of 2020. For our own health and that of others we should avoid gatherings of more than ten people; we are supposed to stay six feet apart; and we must wear masks. Although Rooster’s, our usual meeting place, is open and has some properly spaced outdoor seating, congregating a large number of people in one place is just not a good idea at this time.
We will theref ore start this season online. Trip and membership applications are available on the website, www.lexskisports.org. Applications can be completed and submitted electronically. Paper applications can also be emailed to the appropriate mailboxes: email@example.com; firstname.lastname@example.org; email@example.com; and firstname.lastname@example.org; or returned by mail to Lexington Ski and Sports Club, PO Box 22375, Lexington, KY 40522. Membership dues and trip installments can be paid via PayPal. Dues are still $40 per adult, and initial trip deposits are still $100, with no extra charge for the PayPal service. (PayPal surcharges will still apply to trip payments after the initial deposit.) These are uncertain times and making long-range plans can be challenging. However, we have attempted to be proactive in selecting destinations and reserving space, so members will have the opportunity for great skiing next winter. At the same time, we are also keeping a keen eye on cancellation policies and deadlines in the COVID-19 age. Tour operators, lodging companies and airlines are being more flexible than usual about potential complications from the coronavirus, but each has its own conditions and deadlines. We will advise everyone who signs up for trips of any dates by which they may cancel and receive refunds. We also encourage members to consider purchasing individual trip insurance policies.
